Merry Christmas from Castle Dene
18th December 2015
A very busy 2015!
It’s been a busy year for the shopping centre with the introduction of new retailers, the hosting of various seasonal events and a plethora of promotions giving shoppers the chance to win great prizes, both in-store and online!
Our Next Big Thing talent competition in the summer saw a range of sensational singers, dynamic dancers and exciting entertainers compete for the crown and prize money. The final took place on 8th August, hosted by SUN FM with guest judge Barry Hyde from the Futureheads. After much deliberation, Aisha Harriett was crowned the winner following a stunning performance of ‘River Deep Mountain High’. Aisha won £300 of vouchers to spend at Castle Dene.
Climb the Castle
We also hosted rock climbing and caving events at the centre in the summer, giving children the chance to reach new heights and explore experiences they wouldn’t normally be able to. Both events proved extremely popular and we look forward to having similar activities at Castle Dene in 2016.
For Halloween we held a Monster Mugshots event in The Chare, where a free spooktacular Haunted House gave children the chance to be transformed into marvellous monsters and gruesome ghouls, thanks to fiendish face painters and a devilish dress up crew. Pictures from the Monster Mugshot Booth were then uploaded to our Facebook page for followers to vote for the favourite.
Let it Snow
November saw our Christmas Lights Switch On Spectacular take place. In association with SUN FM, the shopping centre’s lights were switched on during an afternoon of festive fun and sparkle. There was live music from X Factor’s Lucy Spraggan, another performance from Next Big Thing winner Aisha Harriett and various local dance acts and on-stage competitions.
Our final event of the year was a Giant Snow Globe that was erected in the centre where families could be part of a winter wonderland! Participants were then given a polaroid picture of their visit to take home and keep. All photos were also uploaded to our Facebook page where followers could vote for their favourite, congratulations to Louise Bells little ones who won £100’s worth of Wilko Vouchers.
Whilst we have no more events until next year, the centre will still be busy with various in-store merriment, promotions and competitions! Below are our opening hours over the festive period:
