Families from across Peterlee enjoyed an egg-cellent Bank Holiday weekend at Castle Dene Shopping Centre, thanks to a whole host of cracking Easter activities fit for all the family.

The Easter Bunny kicked off the event on Friday 30th March by making a special appearance at the centre, spreading smiles by handing out free mini chocolate eggs to shoppers and greeting local children.

Youngsters were also treated to an appearance from a balloon modeller, who transformed balloons into colourful seasonal shapes such as rabbits and flowers.

The celebrations continued on Saturday 31st March as the centre’s Kids’ Club returned, helping children make a variety of Easter themed creations that they could take home for family and friends.

From pop-up chicks, rabbits and bunny puppets, to brightly coloured play-doh Easter eggs and colouring sheets, children immersed themselves in the activities.

Operations Manager at Castle Dene Shopping Centre, Suzanne Chaney, commented: “We thoroughly enjoyed the celebrations at the weekend. Seeing the community come together to have plenty of fun brings us great joy.

“The reaction to the Easter Bunny from both the adults and children was fantastic to see!”
